The Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition Community Impact Tool

This tool combines national and local data to present a comprehensive view of the true costs of fire. Those involved in decision making about local fire codes, including AHJs and local officials, can gain better insight into the cost and safety benefits of home fire sprinklers and their impact on community risk reduction.

The Community Impact Tool allows fire officials to enter local fire data such as injuries, deaths, equipment used, and other data points to highlight the difference home fire sprinklers make in community risk reduction. The local data is combined with national data to provide a complete overview of how fire sprinklers benefit communities.

The data are formatted and output for presentation to local officials and builders/developers on the benefits of requiring fire sprinklers in new developments and putting or keeping it in the local codes.

How to Use the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition Community Impact Tool

1. Register to set up an account, or login if you already have an account.
2. After you log in/register, click Submit.
3. Fill in the form with your data to create your presentation.
4. Upload your logo if you would like it to appear at the end of the presentation.
5. On the last page of the form click the “Download Your Community Impact Presentation” button and it will redirect you to the download page.
6. Once you’ve filled out your data and submitted it, wait for the buttons to turn color (5 – 10 minutes); you can then download the PPT. Do not click out of your browser.
7. The tool will automatically create a presentation in a PPT format.
8. You can use the file as your presentation or export the file as a PDF for sharing.
9. NOTE: Click the SAVE AND RESUME LATER button at the bottom to modify the presentation at a later date. You can either “Copy Link” or “Enter Your Email.” The Copy Link saves the link for you to paste it somewhere for safe keeping. Enter your email to receive a unique code via email.
10. NOTE: Once the Download Your Community Impact Presentation button is pressed, The resume function will no longer work and all data will have to be re-entered.
11. Next Step: Share your customized presentation with at least one decision maker/stakeholder and include the details of this step as you complete the evaluation for each.
