Since the 1970s when America Burning was published, fire safety organizations encouraged home fire sprinkler protection as an essential fire mitigation strategy. But no organization had the capacity to make that goal a priority. To fill that gap, the presidents of the American Fire Sprinkler Association, National Fire Protection Association and the National Fire Sprinkler Association pooled their resources in 1996, creating the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition to focus exclusively on home fire sprinkler education. HFSC has evolved from the small group the founders envisioned into a national 501c(3) organization working in the US and Canada. HFSC is led by a diverse and active Board of Directors that includes its three founding members.
In honor of HFSC’s 25 years, President Loraine Carli conducted a series of interviews with HFSC board members. They discuss the history and mission of the organization, how each board member contributes and utilizes HFSC resources, challenges related to educating about home fire sprinklers and where the organization is headed.
New interviews will be posted weekly. Click here HFSC 25 Years to see the schedule and view the interviews.
