Home Fire Sprinkler Message from Chief Donna Black, Past-President, IAFC
Description
Chief Donna Black, Past President, IAFC, encourages fire chiefs to lead efforts to ensure new housing stock is protected with fire sprinklers – from updating codes, to passing ordinances, to working with developers to sprinkler more new homes.
Special interests have spent millions of dollars to keep home fire sprinklers out of state and local codes. Tragically, when the sprinkler requirement is removed, sub-standard homes are being built, increasing risk to communities for decades.
Home fire sprinklers belong in every community risk reduction plan. When new homes are sprinklered they are safer. That allows valuable fire service resources to be directed to other areas at highest risk.
